Why You're Making the Move

A practical starting point for moving a FlutterFlow app into pure Flutter with AI. Watch the lesson, then use the notes below as your reference while you work.

What you'll learn

  • Why FlutterFlow holds you back as your app grows
  • How AI tools like Claude Code and Codex do the heavy lifting for you
  • How to download your FlutterFlow code and push it to GitHub
  • How to run your app locally without touching the terminal
  • How to begin a full refactor into pure Flutter with AI

Steps covered in this episode

A quick map of the workflow before you start moving your app out of FlutterFlow.

01

Download your code

Export the FlutterFlow project, unzip it, and save the folder locally. This is your app as Flutter code.

02

Open the project

Use VS Code or Codex. The file tree may look unfamiliar, but AI will help you navigate it.

03

Create a GitHub repo

Set up a private repository so your code is backed up before AI starts making changes.

04

Push with AI

Ask Claude Code or Codex to connect the folder to GitHub and sync the first version.

05

Run it locally

Ask AI to run the app in Chrome, or use the iOS Simulator on Mac if Xcode is installed.

06

Plan the refactor

Use the strongest model available in plan mode, review the migration plan, then let AI execute in stages.
